My name is Joyce Livingstone, 11/10/2018- My Passion is illustrating and writing children’s story books with the help of the wonderful Australian publishing services of “Love of Books”, over a ten-year period, I have self-published seven books with “Love of Books” help and guidance. My books cover a wide range of subjects which I think give pleasure to children reading them.
My seven books are. Patsy and Peter, The Platypuses from Piccaninny Pond, Matt and Miranda, The Murray Greys from Muddy Meadows Farm, Ken and Katie, The Kookaburras from Laughing Meadows Farm, Daisy The Dairy Cow from Dumbalk Downs, Max and Molly Magpie, Down on Meeniyan Farm. One Eyed Pete, The Pirate King, Trevor The Triumph TR3, Pedro The Cheeky Little Chihuahua. My 8th (latest book)
Pedro The Cheeky Little Chihuahua published with the help of Alice and the team at “Love of Books ” has been a very pleasurable experience as I know from previous transactions that I can trust “Love of Books” with the help of Alice and the team to obtain a professional and pleasing publishing outcome for me. That being, children who purchase my books will enjoy the experience of reading them.
As I live in a small rural region in South Gippsland Love of Books for many years and most recently have been very helpful in overcoming hurdles created by living in these isolated regions of Australia. Much of the work submitted to Love of Books was written in pen. Yes, I am old school. I posted my original drawing and manuscript by mail. The team suggested to use an illustrator to colour the images on computer. I followed their advice and was more than pleased with the end result of my many hand drawn illustrations. The team answered or returned my calls in good timing and very professionally. My advice to anyone who wishes to get their book published or is having trouble getting published, old school like myself, needing real care and patience is to definitely engage the services of this terrific Australian publishing portal at Love of Books. It will be a very happy and satisfying experience for you.
“As a first time one-off self publishing author, having researched several companies and warned about vanity publishers, I found this website. I utilized the services with Love of Books-for my book “My Story- A History of Ironman in Australia” as a personal family owned business.
Although I did not use their editing services I found their experience and expertise in formatting, production and printing services to be excellent.
Communication is a big factor with me. I could not have been happier with the amount of time and interest taken in my somewhat pedantic nature, with the attention to detail by consultant Alice to ensure my book would meet my expectations. The Love of Books team spent many hours getting things right. Ian took time with editing my photos to make them more properly presented. All went with some fairly tight deadlines in the end.
Thanks also to Ian Lewis for his personal input.
I can thoroughly recommend Love of Books to any potential self publisher, embarking on this wonderful self publishing journey.”
EMMA AYNSLEY: Love of Books was proud to assist Emma Aynsley on her publishing journey. Emma is passionate about aeroplanes, she spends hours drawing them and learning about them and has published 2 picture books called ‘ Plane Crazy 1 and 2’ with the loving assistance of Love of Books. Knowing what challenges may lie ahead for Emma as a young girl with autism, Colin, Emma’s father was keen to see his daughter develop her talents.
Brian H Butler: It was a real pleasure working with gentleman Brian H. Butler to bring his NEW BOOK – ‘ THE BIGGEST LIE AND THE GREATEST TRUTH ‘ to life. Now Published: VISIT: www.ernestworkman.com For purchasing details.
Brian H Butler’s Journey: I have had some unfortunate experiences of dealing with publishers both here in Australia as well as in the U.S.A. It is hard work when you have to deal with a different person every time in big organisations. I was despairing of finding one to entrust with the work of my new book, The Biggest Lie. It was quite by chance, (or not!) that I came across Love of Books. I was impressed when I first spoke to them because of their obvious sincerity in wanting to help authors get the job done for a reasonable price. I signed up with them, and I am glad that I did. It is so much easier when you can deal with the same contact person every time as I have with Love of Books. Building business relationships is still very important in my opinion. Brian H. Butler, Author.
My wife, the bridal designer Rhonda Hemmingway, had written a book called Secrets and Confessions of a Wedding Dress Designer. After checking all the competition we found Love of Books to be easily the most competitive. As the book was a deluxe hardcover A4 sized coffee table style, with 365 pages and more than 250 photographs with a sealed section and silver foiled highlights on the cover, it was very complex to design and print. Not once did the Love of Books team falter to deliver exactly what we wanted with great formatting design ideas, but it was achieved promptly and with good humour. The resulting publication is so impressive that we just received a good order from the biggest retailer of books in Australasia, Dymocks (145+ shops). The book will go into profit next month, recovering all our print and marketing costs. We are thrilled. We will definitely use Love of Books for the reprints (as well as a children’s book we are also working on). I cannot praise Love of Books too much as they really are very good and highly skilled, which is all the more impressive when you consider their quote was the best we obtained from the 8 publisher’s we approached. http://www.rhondahemmingway.com.au.
RICHARD DOVE: “Us Karen” was written by Richard Dove and illustrated by the talented Karen, artist, Tha Do, to tell the amazing story of the Karen people’s journey, as refugees, from Burma to Australia. The book was published as a Wyndham Community and Education Centre project and was funded by the Wyndham City Council. “Us Karen” was launched at Wyndham City Council before an audience of over 300 people. The Prime Minister of Australia, Julia Gillard, kindly supported this book launch by recording this speech from her office, in Canberra. The book had already sold 1,000 copies. Love of Books donated precious time with setting up the files ready for print, in the aid of charity to enable this beautiful book come to life.
JOHN DUFFY: I want to thank Love of Books, and all the staff, for a wonderful experience in producing my book, the “Australian Bus and Coach Drivers’ Guide”. From initial contact to completion of dispatch, I have been impressed with Love of Books constant level of professionalism, care and support all round. They were sensitive to the personal loss in my family (at the time I first expressed interest in their business). They were able to offer me a fantastic range of services, and advise me on doing “little things” under my own volition (to increase the satisfaction of personally achieving various aspects of production). Tony was amazing in production of the product, and advice for marketing and future development of the book by the consultants was much appreciated. The Dispatch department was brilliant, contacting me personally regarding distribution and related requirements. I found their attention to detail extremely beneficial, and their advice based on years of experience invaluable. After seeking a range of suppliers, they are the most economic for quality publishers I encountered. I cannot adequately express how impressed I was with the final product. They assisted my plans with self publishing into a reality, and I am grateful. I look forward to Love of Books continued support and services in the future, and recommend them to anyone seeking to self-publishing.
