Self Publishing and Marketing

Book Marketing ideas that work

1) Internet Press Release

An internet press release may not necessarily get you media attention, but it can often get you some good traffic. In addition, you can include a link in the press release so that people can click on
and head to your purchase page.

2) Book Reviews

An easy way to gain massive amounts of attention for your book is to get your book reviewed in the papers or a publication with a good following. Just make sure you target the right media and pitch your book to the right people.

3) Others’ Blogs

Commenting constructively on other blogs relevant to your book, or getting a guest post on a blog with good traffic will help you gain some cheap traffic to your book. Make sure you can link back to your book when you comment on other’s blogs. Do not overtly promote your book (it’s considered spam), but make constructive comments that add value.

4) Bookmarks

Bookmarks with a tagline and ordering information is a powerful promotional tool for you. You can leave some at the local café. Give it as a gift to people who may be interested in your book. And if a book store agrees to stock your book, ask them to give your bookmark as a gift to any customer who purchase any book from their store. This will get you lots of exposure to book readers!

5) Create a Youtube video

Videos are proven to get more buyers. You-tube has over 1 billion unique visitors each month who watch 6 billion hours of videos each month. It’s a channel you cannot ignore. At the minimum, get a video about your book uploaded…and make sure you have a link that points to where they can buy your book.

6) Start Blogging

Create your own blog website and start blogging about anything relevant to your book. Create short informative articles or short stories, depending on your genre of your book. Use your blog to gain a following and for people to get a taste of your writing. The more you blog, the more the search engines are going to pay attention to you and give you free traffic.

7) Twitter

There’s various book clubs and book enthusiast that are on Twitter. You just have to find them and get them to Tweet about your book. Thankfully we have found a couple of Tweeter who can Tweet about your book to over 100,000 book enthusiasts for an affordable price.

Books Not Selling?

Why are your books not selling?

Or if you are thinking of getting your manuscript published read this first.

One of the most heart-breaking things for an author is to invest months and possibly years into a book and have it published, but then it doesn’t sell.

Some of our authors get thousands of dollars paid in book royalties each year, and yet some have very little to shout about.

Learning from both successes and failures, this article will identify the core reasons a book doesn’t sell.

Book published/not yet published

1) Book is poorly written

Goes without saying, a poorly written book without good structure and proper proofreading will have little chance of succeeding in the marketplace. The solution? Plan your book structure out before you write it and make sure you get your book proofread by professionals.

2) Cover Doesn’t Grab Attention

That’s why you should invest a in a simple eye catching cover design. It is one of the key factors in attracting potential readers to your book. You generally have about 8 seconds to grab the attention of your prospective readers. Make sure your cover looks great.

3) The Price Ain’t Right

This is especially important with eBooks. If you price your book too high, no one is going to give your book a second look. At the same time, some of our authors have highly priced books in certain niche markets yet do very well. So as a general rule of thumb, the wider your book audience, the cheaper it has to be. The more niched and targeted your book is, the higher you can price it.

The best thing to do? Spend a few minutes on Amazon.com and have a look at other bestselling books in your genre that you’re competing with…what are their pricing their books at?Then price your book accordingly.

4) Your Blurb

Your book blurb, or the short description about your book is one of the key things to convert interested prospects into buying readers. Give as much as possible about your book, and leave them hanging for more. If you have a non-fiction book, make sure you can communicate the benefits of reading your book. For example: overcome snoring, have better relationship with your children, make a million dollars in 7 years in stocks etc.

5) No Personal Marketing Effort

Sadly, most authors think that once the book is published, their work is done. Successful authors know that is just the beginning of it. They get on radio shows, write articles for their local rag, write guest blog posts, speak at local associations, and develop relationships with bookstores…. the list goes on.

The point is that authors who treat their book as a business have an infinitely higher possibility of success. It is a rarity that any author had solely depended on their publisher to achieve the success they had. Household names today like John Grisham, JK Rowling and Robert Kiyosaki all had to work hard to promote their books initially. If you want to be a successful
author, you’ll need the same commitment.

6) Title

It goes without saying that your title and subtitle on the cover is just as important.

Hope this helps

What’s stopping you?

What is stopping you?

I realise most of the time, my biggest enemy is myself.

For example, I’m really good at coming up with genuinely valid reasons for getting fit and healthy.
There’s the kids I have to take care of, the pain in my arm, the cold weather, Jenny is coming over for coffee or that my favourite program is on TV.
All genuine valid reasons, do you think?
But once in a while, I remember my dream to fit into that size 10 dress, to turn heads like I used to…in that moment of inspiration, I take out my runners and do a 30 minute run.
…and it feels so good doesn’t it!
So what’s stopping you from finally getting your book published? Or writing your second book?
Well, based on our conversations with thousands of potential authors, it seems 2 things keep coming up: Time and Money.
I’m afraid I can’t help give you more time.

Website Tips by Ian Lewis

 Driving traffic to your website.

After all- driving people (traffic) to your website increases the potential for sales.

Here are some proven tips for success:

* The first tip is to be very patient and prepare to lose some money before you earn some. View it as an investment and bid the amount that will grant you the most money.

* The second tip is to adopt the strategy of focusing on ad groups and of going for misspelled words or words written as one. This will enable you to generate more traffic.

* The third tip is to make sure that there is a very strong relevance between the keyword, the ad text, and the landing page content.

* The fourth tip is to know your prospective customers and adjust based on their possible demands.

* Fifth, maintain efficiency. You can do this by saving space through the use of an ampersand instead of the word “and.”

* Lastly, make sure that you insert dynamic keywords that are able to attract prospective customers.
