For more than 17 years, Julie McGregor has dedicated her professional life to helping authors share their stories with the world.

As the founder of Love of Books, Julie built a reputation for providing authors with genuine care, encouragement, and guidance throughout the publishing journey. Her passion for books, storytelling, and supporting writers helped nearly 2,000 authors transform their manuscripts into professionally published books.

Julie's journey in publishing began after working within several publishing houses, where she developed a strong understanding of the industry and the challenges many first-time authors faced. During these early years, she recognised that many writers needed more than publishing services. They needed someone who would listen, guide, encourage, and support them through what could often be an overwhelming process.

This understanding became the foundation upon which Love of Books was built.

Unlike many traditional publishing environments, Julie was able to dedicate significant personal time to authors. While professional publishing services were charged appropriately, countless hours were devoted to answering questions, sharing knowledge, offering reassurance, and helping authors understand every stage of the publishing process. Her belief was simple: every author deserved to feel valued, respected, and supported while pursuing their dream of becoming a published writer.

Over the years, Julie worked with authors from all walks of life. From family historians preserving treasured memories, to novelists, poets, children's authors, business professionals, and memoir writers, every manuscript represented a unique story and a unique individual. Julie considered it a privilege to help bring those stories to life.

What set Julie apart was not simply her publishing knowledge, but her genuine love of people. Many authors came to regard Julie McGregor as far more than a publishing professional. She became a trusted mentor, valued friend, and source of encouragement throughout their publishing journey. Many of those friendships continue to this day.

One of the aspects of publishing Julie cherished most was helping authors create a lasting legacy. Some of the authors she worked with are sadly no longer with us, but their books remain for future generations to read, treasure, and remember. Knowing she played a small part in preserving those stories remains one of the greatest honours of her career.

In addition to her work with authors, Julie has also supported charitable and community organisations by donating her time, publishing expertise, and design skills to projects she believed would make a positive difference.

Throughout her career, Julie has remained guided by the same values that inspired her from the beginning: kindness, integrity, compassion, encouragement, and a lifelong love of books.

Today, Julie McGregor's publishing journey continues to be reflected in the thousands of books, stories, friendships, and publishing successes she helped make possible. Her commitment to authors has never wavered, and her passion for preserving stories remains as strong as ever.

One such project was In Pursuit of Achievement: Through Making Things Happen by Robert McCullough, OAM.

As Robert's health deteriorated, it became difficult for him to travel. Knowing how important this book was to him and his family, Julie McGregor willingly visited Robert in his home, donating her time and support without charge, to help bring his manuscript to completion. It was his wish to see his story published and shared with others, and Julie was determined to help make that dream a reality.

From the earliest stages of preparation through to the finished publication, Julie provided support, guidance, and encouragement, ensuring Robert's experiences, achievements, and remarkable life story would be preserved for future generations.

Projects such as this reflect the philosophy upon which Love of Books was built: that every story matters, every author deserves support, and every legacy deserves to be preserved.
