At Love of Books, every author and every manuscript has always been treated with care, respect, and genuine dedication. For Julie McGregor, publishing has never been simply about producing books. It has always been about helping authors achieve their dream of becoming published writers and ensuring they feel supported throughout every stage of the publishing journey. Over the years, Love of Books has had the privilege of working with authors from all walks of life, assisting with memoirs, family histories, novels, children's books, poetry collections, and business publications. The testimonials below reflect the experiences of authors who entrusted Julie McGregor and Love of Books with their stories. Their words speak not only of professional publishing services, but of the compassion, patience, and personal attention that helped transform manuscripts into published books and lifelong memories. Nothing has been more rewarding than seeing authors achieve their publishing goals and bring their stories to life. These testimonials represent the friendships, trust, and lasting relationships built throughout more than 17 years in the publishing industry.
Many authors came to regard Julie McGregor not simply as a publishing professional, but as a trusted friend who genuinely cared about their success.
Recently, we used the services of Love of Books to professionally print a family history book we had written as a family keepsake. With no prior experience and a pressing deadline, we needed guidance on formatting, timeframes, and costs.
From our first contact, Julie fully understood our needs and arranged a meeting. She answered every question with clarity and demonstrated a strong technical understanding of the entire printing process. What impressed us most was her honesty and genuine nature — we knew we could rely on her.
Throughout the entire process, Julie made herself readily available and handled every issue promptly. We not only met our deadline, but the finished book exceeded our expectations. ➡️ Robert (Retired Police Minister) & Larrane McDonald — Highland Park, Queensland ───────────────
Since the initial publication of Media Law for Non-Lawyers, many media law guidebooks have been published internationally in countries such as the USA, UK, France, and Italy, yet Australia remained without a comparable updated resource. A thoroughly revised second edition became especially important following the introduction of the Producer Offset tax scheme in 2008 and the establishment of Screen Australia.
When the time came to update the book, I contacted Jules at Love of Books. From the outset, her enthusiasm, knowledge, and genuine commitment to the project were evident. We worked together by phone and email, often extending conversations into the evening, carefully shaping and refining the new edition. This was the second book I published through Love of Books, and throughout the process, Jules remained a constant source of encouragement, guidance, and support.
What sets Jules apart is not only her professionalism and attention to detail, but the care she invests in every author she works with. She always went the extra mile to ensure our books were published to the highest standard in every respect, while making the journey both enjoyable and rewarding. Her warmth, generosity, and unwavering dedication created an experience that felt far more personal than a typical publishing relationship.
Jules is an amazing person who truly cares about the success of her authors. The impact she has had on my publishing journey will stay with me forever, and I am proud to call her not only my publisher, but a lifelong friend. ➡️ LYNDON SAWYER-JONES (Media Lawyer) Author of Media Law for Non-Lawyers ───────────────
I met a very special person named Julie McGregor by accident in a coffee shop near Parliament House. I did not mention that I was writing my own book at this time. As she was an experinced publisher, I became intrigued, asked questions, engaged with them, and did my own research too. One of Julie's most remarkable qualities was the value she placed on every author she worked with. She consistently gave authors the time, attention, and support she promised, not because it was billable, but because she genuinely believed they deserved it. As a business owner, Julie chose to invest her own personal time in nurturing and guiding her authors, often going far beyond what any service agreement required.
Having worked within several publishing houses, Julie had seen firsthand how commercial pressures often limit the time and care authors receive. In many organisations, staff time is tightly budgeted, leaving little opportunity for meaningful author support. Julie took a different approach. While professional services and products naturally carry a cost, her generosity with her time, encouragement, and genuine care was something she gave freely. It was this personal investment that made authors feel valued, supported, and truly seen throughout their publishing journey. ➡️Les Crosby (Musician) - One Door Opens ───────────────

Life is amazing — that much I know for certain. In 2001, I wrote a manuscript that changed my life. Years later, I realised it was time to bring that work to life. When I contacted Love of Books, Julie’s support was unlike anything I had experienced before. She guided me through every stage — formatting, cover design, printing, marketing, and beyond. With her help, my manuscript became a professionally published book. Over time, their support grew into something more meaningful — genuine care for my journey as an author. My name is Joyce Livingstone, and my passion is writing and illustrating children’s books. Over more than ten years, I have self‑published multiple titles with the guidance and support of Julie McGregor and the team at Love of Books. My books cover a wide range of themes designed to bring enjoyment to young readers. Living in a rural region of South Gippsland, I faced challenges in accessing services; however, the team consistently supported me with patience and professionalism. Much of my work was handwritten and posted traditionally, yet they guided me through modern production processes, including digital illustration. The results exceeded my expectations, and the experience has always been positive and rewarding. I highly recommend this Australian team to anyone, especially those who need extra care and patience throughout their publishing journey. ➡️ J. Livingstone ───────────────

Giving back to the community has always been important to Julie McGregor. Over the years, she willingly donated her time, publishing knowledge, and design skills to a range of charitable organisations. One such project was US Karen People, a publication Julie was proud to assist by providing professional book formatting and support to help bring their story to life.
Love of Books was built upon a simple belief: every author has a story worth telling and deserves the opportunity to share it with the world.
Founded by Julie McGregor, Love of Books grew from a passion for literature, storytelling, and helping writers transform their manuscripts into professionally published books. Over many years, Julie had the privilege of working with almost 2,000 authors, supporting them through every stage of their publishing journey with patience, encouragement, and genuine care.
What made Love of Books unique was not simply the books that were published, but the relationships that were formed along the way. Julie believed that authors deserved more than a publishing service. They deserved guidance, understanding, honest advice, and someone who would genuinely celebrate their achievements with them.
From memoirs and family histories to novels, children's books, poetry collections, and business publications, every project was approached with the same commitment and respect. For many authors, publishing a book was the fulfilment of a lifelong dream, and Julie considered it a privilege to help make that dream a reality.
Throughout her publishing career, Julie remained dedicated to creating a supportive environment where authors felt valued, heard, and encouraged. Her passion for books and her belief in the importance of preserving stories helped many writers leave a lasting legacy for future generations.
Today, the spirit of Love of Books continues to celebrate the authors, friendships, stories, and accomplishments that made the journey so meaningful. The books remain, the stories endure, and the impact of those publishing journeys continues to inspire readers and writers alike.
